A Peek into the Life of a Freelancer/Bum

I wrote the first paragraph while waiting for our trainer: I'm in Integrated Physical Assessment Training right now. It's been more than a year since I last did some Nursing stuff. And surprisingly, my memory is still sharp and intact. I remember 90% of the topics that our trainer is talking about. The feeling was a bit weird though. I even cringe at times. It's not that I don't like nursing. In fact, I came to realize that I love it. The nurse inside me woke up again (lol). Occassionally, I tried to eavesdrop on my seatmates when they talk about the different opportunities for us nurses. And I think I can safely say that it sucks to be a nurse here in the Philippines. The tuision fee in Nursing Colleges are so steep. After graduation, you have to pass the board exam. And nope, you can't celebrate yet. You still have to go to trainings and seminars so that the hospitals will take notice of your resumé. You also have to wait patiently until those freaking hospitals put a stop to freeze hiring. And if you're really unlucky, you may have to do some volunteer work. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against volunteering. I just can't do it because of obvious financial matters. lol.

On a lighter note, I just want to say that I'm very thankful I have an oDesk job right now. My buyer is so appreciative, he always gives me good feedback about my work. The job is so easy and I'm not going to deny that the pay is a bit low. Nevertheless, it's just enough for me to buy myself a well-deserved laptop. Yay!

Before I say goodbye, here's a photo of Conti's Strawberry Cheesecake that my parents got for Manang's birthday,

Just trying to make your mouth water. ;)

Goodbye for now, I gotta work, plus I need to get ready for our practicum in Red Cross tomorrow! Yikes!

Happy Incoherence

I've been a bit busy these past weeks. Yes, I have a life outside the internet. I just turned 22 last October 28. And I don't want to believe the fact that I'm getting older. Hehe. Anyway, I have a lot of things to rave about so prepare your eyes and mind. ;)

I stayed at home all day on my birthday. I was surprised and touched when Tobi came to my house in the morning, carrying a bouquet of roses. I was so happy because it had been ages since I last saw him. We just chatted and hung out 'til night. Then I received a text message from the seller of my phone, my beloved Sony Ericsson K850, informing me that my phone was already fixed and that we can meet the next day so that I can pick it up. I was so ecstatic when I read his message cause I really missed my phone. Tobi and I were just talking about where to meet the seller when my parents arrived. My mom apologized to me cause she didn't bought me a DQ Blizzard cake, which is what I wished for. Just imagine my reaction when I saw the Mile High Black Velvet Cake from Conti's that she gave me. I love chocolate and cream cheese so I literally jumped up and down when I tasted it. It was a perfect day for me.

The next day, Tobi and I met the seller in SM Makati. I was so glad to have my phone back. I was also a bit worried that the LCD might be broken again. After I got my phone, we went to Greenbelt 3 to see the schedule of the movie, "Jennifer's Body". We bought tickets and went to Teriyaki Boy to have dinner. Food was delicious and cheap. We were so bochog that night. haha.. After eating, we watched the movie. Fox's acting was a bit off at times but overall, the movie was ok. We walked a bit after the movie and admired the beauty of Greenbelt at night. We lost track of time and went home a bit late. It was a great night for us. Once I got home, I checked my facebook account and noticed that I got a new message in my inbox.  It was from Joyce, my bestfriend, who's currently in Chicago. She sent me a very sweet birthday message that I almost cried while reading it. I miss her so damn much.

One of the temptations that I'm trying to avoid right now is Sims 2. (We don't have Sims 3 yet.) My sisters and I are so addicted to it. We even downloaded some celebrity sims here. It's so hard to stop playing once you get hooked to it. Though of course I gave it up after I created an account in oDesk. For those of you who aren't familiar with oDesk, it's a website for freelancers and the companies who hire them. It's a good way to earn money while you're at home. Some people even give up their day jobs for it. One of its benefits is you get to work at the comfort of your home. One obvious drawback is there is no work stability. Since I'm a bum right now, I figured, I've got nothing to lose here so I might as well try it. Fortunately, I got a job the next day after signing up. I feel so blessed these days.

I'm so busy with my job right now that I don't even have time to update this blog. My buyer is actually very nice. I just want to dedicate my time to my job so that I can earn enough money to buy myself a Lenovo Ideapad S10-2. ;) It looks so yummy. And of course, I can have more time to work once I have my own laptop. Aside from that, Tobi and I want to do some travelling. We have a lot of travel destinations in our minds and we're hoping to visit some of them, if time permits, next year. Our Laiya trip was so relaxing and satisfying that we're itching to do it again. If only we had the time and money to do that every week. *sigh*

Sorry if this post doesn't have coherence. I'm so random right now I can talk about anything. :P

Before I forget, I just want to say that I got a DQ Blizzard Oreo Cake a few days after my birthday.

so happy :)

I'm hoping that the next post will have more sense than this one. I couldn't make a decent post right now if my life depended on it. XD Have a good weekend everybody!
